ABR 11.5 Command 'Sending e-mail' has failed Event code: 0x0135003D+0x014F0020+0x014F000F

Thread needs solution

I have ABR 11.5 setup and using AMS to manage the backup jobs. I have three job defined. One for another physical machine and 2 for the same machine ABR is installed. The two jobs from the same machine send out emails when the job is completed without an issue. The other job for the other physical machine never sends out an email. I have tried deleting and recreating the job but that did not solve it. The TEST email sends just fine. It's only the email that is suppose to send when the job is done that doesn't send. The Alerts function also sends emails ok. I have read about issues on the socket error but that doesn't make any sense since two of the three jobs send emails ok. But to rule that socket error out I created a fourth job to run and finish before the others to initiate the email communication chain.

 Hello Jeff,

Thank you for posting. I am happy to help you resolve this issue.

You found out that e-mails sent from the AMS server work flawlessly, but the second agent fails to send the notifications and gives out the error Fatal error has occurred while reading from the socket. Most likely the test e-mail sent from the agent will fail as well. Note that when you create a centralized backup plan and send a test e-mail, it is sent by the Management Server, not by the agent. In order to test the notifications on the agent, connect the console to the agent and create a backup plan there.

As described in the KB 33791 for Acronis vmProtect, the error above is returned when the SMTP server rejects the first packet sent from agent and therefore the agent receives an empty reply. This means that the validation of username/password has not even started at this stage. The most typical reason is that the IP of agent is declined by SMTP server firewall. Please consult with your SMTP server administrator to ensure that it doesn't block the requests from agent IP address.

On the other hand, the Management Server IP address is already registered on the SMTP server and the agent on it works fine. So all you have to do is check the settings for both servers and adjust them for the non-working one.

Should you have additional questions, let me know.

Thank you.

If memory serves me correctly the solution was to create another dedicated email/user account instead of using an admin account.
