Acronis 11.5 Server Edition + Worstation Edition Bootable

Thread needs solution

Installed 11.5 Server Edition on Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter Edition (Virtual Machine at AWS) and wrote backup to cloud. Then Restored backup to new disk. Not bootable.

Used same software to 'create VMware virtual machine as files.' copied files to local system, opened as existing virtual machine on VMware workstation. Not bootable.

Booted local virtual machine with Acronis 11.5 Workstation edition (with Universal Restore included) and applied Universal Restore. No errors. Not bootable.

Backed up failing system disk with Workstation edition and restored. Applied Universal Restore, no errors. Not bootable.

Applied Universal Restore using a working copy of Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter Edition (on a virtual disk.) No errors. Not bootable.

The boot error is always the same "Page fault in nonPaged area" failing module storport.sys which appears to be the HDD driver.

Is there any way to make this process work or is this experiment doomed to fail? Is there something else I can do or should I give up on this trial of the 11.5 Server Edition? (I have a regular license for the Workstation edition.)

Hello James Kay,

Thank you for posting this issue in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

The most common reason for this situation is the backed up source machine. You need to ensure, that your local system is also a 64-bit system. Otherwise you could not start a 64-bit system as virtual machine on a 32-bit host.

You also should ensure that there is no recovery partition on the source system. This often leads to similar problems. If you are running all operations, as described and there is no reason to find, I recommend creating a system report of the affected machine and contacting support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.
