Acronis (any) fails to enumerate drives for backup schedule when on a domain only
We have a strange behavior issue with workstations and servers not displaying drives when trying to view volumes whilst setting up a backup shedule.
We have tested the scenario on Windows 7, Server 2003, and server 2008. We have used Acronis 9.7, 10 and 11.5 where appropriate to the OS. Testing both whilst joined to a domain and in standalone mode.
To begin, we have a Windows 2003 server that is a DC running as a VM on ESXi5. We loaded Acronis 11.5 and found the initial problem - not able to enumerate the drives when creating a backup plan. Looked around online for a solution but came up with nothing useful.
We tried removing 11.5 and replacing with 10. Still had the same issue. Again, we removed and replaced with 9.7 and again, had the same issue.
We loaded another PC with Win7 and loaded 11.5 immediately. Sure enough, we could access the drives. We then joined the PC to the domain and found we were back to square 1 - no drive volume enumeration when setting up the backup plan. If we change the backup to files and folders, we can see the drives again but only for that type of backup. Changing back results in no visible volumes again. Found the same issue in Acronis 10 also.
So from this, we have assumed something is blocking the access to the local drives whilst connected to the domain. We are using an account with domain admin rights and the MMS is also using an account with admin rights and 'log on as a service' enabled. MMS starts up fine.
We have combed through the Group Policy and found nothing out of the ordinary that would cause this behavior. GPO is all pretty standard for a Windows Domain.
I suppose what I am asking is a) Has anyone come across this behavior previously? and b) Is there something you think I may have overlooked here.
Any suggestions would be appreciated as we have exhausted our known avenues and would love to have a few pointers.
Thanks in advance.
