Acronis Backup 11.7 doesn't erase support

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm facing a new problem for me since a few weeks. I have a Dell Poweredge server with RD1000 hard disk cartidge for backups. I configure it to erase all the content of the cartidge first before starting the complete backup. It worked well for years and now it doesn't erase anything (and cause a available disk space problem because my 1To HDD can't support more than one backup).

I tried to configure it to erase all the backups older then 1 day but nothing helps, nothing is erased.

If anyonr had the same issue, thanks for all the help you can provide.

Cajus

Hello Cajus,

Welcome to Acronis forums! Is your RD1000 recognized as a tape drive or a removable drive?  Retention rules work with a single RDX drive permanently attached to the machine when Fixed drive mode is specified in the backup plan.

Have you checked the log files, any error messages? Could you please attach screenshots of settings in a backup plan, screenshot from the vault view and log from the operation (on the affected machine go to Log -> switch from Activities to Events and Save all to file).

Thank you,

Hi Ekaterina,

The drive is considered as a fixed hard drive.

For the moment I setup a workaround by creating a script that erases the entire RD1000 cartridge before the backup starts.

With my current workaround it works and won't give me any errors in the logs. I'll set it back into original configuration next Week End to see what kind of errors it generates.

Thanks
