Acronis Backup Warning

Thread needs solution

Hi,

We have recentley purchased and installed Acronis Backup Advanced for 6 identical servers, 5 out of the 6 are giving the following warning every few minutes, I have tried all of the VSS troubleshooting steps but cannot stop this warning from occuring...

The backups appear to be completeing fine but I would like to know why we continue to receive this warning?

Hello David,

Have you checked Windows Event Logs (Application tab) on the affected machine? Are there any VSS related entries? Are you using an Acronis VSS Provider or System (Microsoft) Provider? The option can be configured in the backup options. Could you please attach the output of the following commands (execute the commands on the machine with Agent that performs backup after the issue has been reproduced). Have you followed suggestions from the following article?

Have you checked Windows Event Logs (Application tab) on the affected machine? Are there any VSS related entries? - There are no VSS entries in the Windows event logs.

Are you using an Acronis VSS Provider or System (Microsoft) Provider? The option can be configured in the backup options. - I have run test backups with each option to eliminate, we still get the warnings no matter which option we choose, also the warnings occur even if there is no active backup running.

Initially I thought it could be because Shadow copies were disabled for the drives we are backing up but enabling shadow copies on the disk has made no difference, I have checked the correct services are enabled as per the VSS article and have also checked that 'Writers' are all stable.

Hi David,

Could you please also attach the output of vssadmin list shadowstorage. This command will show the size of the shadow copy storage on all volumes. If the shadow copy storage is not activated on some volumes or the free space is insufficient, this will be reflected in the output.

Shadow copy storage is not activated on some volumes as we only wish to back up the C/D drives, however I thought this might be causing the warning so to eliminate I enabled SC on all disks, still got the warning, but now I wonder because I enabled SC but it hadn't yet ran a SC?

Could you please send me the exported backup plan, SnapAPI logs and Acronis System Report from the machine where the affected Agent is installed. I'll send you the link for the upload in PM.
