Acronis Management Console Questions/Issues

Thread needs solution

I have 30 seats and have purchased a dedicated 2U server to run the Management Console. I need the ability to copy a .tib from the server to a USB hard drive and take that with the bootable media into the field and load an image. My issue/complaint is that when using the Vault, the folders created for each machine have long weird names (like 219E7A09-29B3-4259-9BBA-57D83BA5796B.1EED2C29-042D-4FEE-9FFC-0B7F93F998F5) and even the .tib files themselves have weird names (like__2012_12_19_17_23_36_573U.tib). This makes it impossible to manually browse the Vault and find a specific image. Why can't the console just keep it simple and use the computer names? Is there a way to make it do that?

I could live with just using the console to locate specific .tib files and export them, BUT I done a test export through the console to an external USB drive and it took 95min to complete. I knew the file size of the .tib so I was eventually able to locate the same .tib manually browsing into the Vault folders and doing a manual file copy, the very same .tib copied in 16min. I am in a time critical environment and would like to know why exporting through the console interface took 95min to do the same thing I done manually in 16min.

Management Console does not require a separate rack unit. Storage Node or Management Server - may be. If you use managed vaults on a storage node, archives in them are not supposed to be conveniently browsed from Windows explorer, it's not possible to use some other scheme for storing backups in managed vaults and all operations with them should be performed from the product GUI ( or command-line client). You can use an unmanaged vault instead.
As for export speed - do you see the bottleneck ( CPU, I/O with the vault (is it located on Storage Node local disk or NAS? ), I/O with USB disk) ? Exporting from ASN to unmanaged or personal vault may involve unpacking and repacking the backup , so can you check if it is limited by 100% utilized CPU?

Management Console was not the correct term I guess. The server is setup as a management server and I run the console software on my desktop computer. I have the OS,programs, page file, etc on a mirrored raid set. The server also has a raid 6 array with 5x3TB drives and a hot spare used solely for the Vault. Not being able to browse the vault is a huge disappointment.

Lee,

Why not use the catalogue feature from within ABR11.5 using the management console, won't that do what you want?

Lee,
So, you need the ability to copy a .tib from the server to a USB hard drive and take that with the bootable media into the field and load an image.
You can do this on conditions that:
1) The .tib contains a full backup (if it is incremental or differential one, you have to export anyway)
2) When backing up, you've selected the 'Simplified file naming' option http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11.5/index.html#10483.h… This option has many limitations though. In particular, it is not available if your vault is managed by Storage Node.
