The way I personally troubleshoot authentication failures is - enabling security audit for failures on the server hosting the share and trying to access the resource. Audit logs tell provide rather detailed reports about what the user is.

Don, I just installed today, 11.5, fresh install. Created a personal vault, created a backup of a VM in Hyper-V and get the exact same error.
Keep us posted.
Thanks,
Curtis

Thanks for the comments. Odd thing is that I am able to back up another machine just fine - both of these are virtual machines. Will get in touch with tech support.
