AMS PC on LAN / TestPC on WAN, firewall in between. Add a machine to AMS: Fails.

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm using a firewall between the PC with AMS installed and the PC to backup (TestPC).
The License Server is installed on the AMS PC using the LAN IP address of the AMS PC.

The AMS PC has a NATted IP address on the WAN.

Remote installation of Agent for Windows is ok.

When I "Add a machine to AMS" for TestPC it fails.

With Wireshark I could see that the TestPC tries to access the License Server on the AMS PC LAN IP address (which cannot be found on the WAN). It seems that the AMS is sending the AMS PC LAN IP address to the TestPC as the location of the License Server.

As a work-around I have added a static route on the TestPC, pointing to the Firewall WAN IP address. Like this: route add [AMS PC LAN IP] [Firewall WAN IP].
This works, but is there no other way to tell the TestPC where the License Server is ?

Thanks,

Bas

Hello Bas Muilwijk,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

When using the Acronis Management Server on one machine, the best way for the Acronis License Server is to define the related IP address instead of name of machine. When adding the client machine, you also should add the machine via IP address. A static routing is a very good idea, if your clients and Acronis Management Server are in different WAN segments. For the related firewall settings, see this article from our knowlede base.

If you need additional assistance, please create a system report of the affected machine and contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.
