Backing up the dedup database

Thread needs solution

We have a managed dedup vault whose data storage location is on a linux zfs storage server. The storage server replicates itself offsite to another zfs node.

It would seem that the dedup database is a point of failure though. What would be the best way to back that up?

I also note that during backups there is another file that is accessed in the c:\Program Data\Acronis folder.

In the event of a loss of our physical building, what would be the procedure for reconstructing a new vault with the backed up dedup database? Are there any additional files that we should be replicating also?

Thanks for your help.

Hello Lester,

You can find more complete instructions on backing up the vault in this article in the FAQ section: https://kb.acronis.com/content/37089

Basically, make sure that no operations are running on the dedup vault (backup, indexing, compacting), stop the Storage Node service and then copy over the database file.

If you have the vault data and the dedup database, you can always reconstruct a new vault by attaching it to a new location: http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ABR11/#1836.html

Note that you don't even necessarily need the dedup database to reattach the vault as it can be recreated from the vault data, but this operation will take a long time.
