Backup configuration file
Hi
We're currently using Acronis Backup 11.5 to backup our workstations but we've basically let everyone do their own thing. I was hired as an IT tech and im still learning the software myself.
I wanted to know if there was a possiblity to create a configuration .xml that could be imported on every PC that would point everyone to the same network backup server and but create a sub folder for every PC name, like a \\srv-backup\PCs\[machinename]\ machinename_backup_date.tib
Thank you

Hello Karine,
Do you use the Advanced or standalone product?
In the latest builds of Advanced, it is possible to create a plan where the backup location is defined by a custom script. This means you can create a single plan for the location, but each agent will backup to their own folder ("Store each machine's archive in a location defined by a custom script")
If you are not using backup Advanced, you can export a plan (this will create an XML) and then reimport it on all the other machines. The location will have to be changed manually, either in the XML itself or through the GUI after import.
This is described in the following article: http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_11.7/#…
Thank you.

@Fedor: No i dont want them to customize their own plan. I want to setup a plan that works for all workstations but that is tailored for each workstation's machine/host name.
We don't have a management server, we only have individual licenses.
@Igor: I think were using the Standalone product (Acronis Backup Version 11.5 Update ). That's the thing, i DONT wanna change the location manually. I thought your product supported using variables in the path to use things like the Pc's name/hostname.

Hello Karine,
This is only supported in the Advanced version through centralized policies.
We will consider adding this functionality to the Standalone local backup plans as well.
Thank you.
