Backup to NAS over FTP

Thread needs solution

Backups to my NAS over FTP seem to be problematic. Acronis takes a significantly long time just to validate the vault. The backup itself takes longer than expected as well.

It's not that it doesn't work...it's just very...very...slow. My only indication that there may be a problem is that the validation and/or creation of the vault (step 2 or 3 in the new backup plan series) would occur quickly.

1. Jumbo frames are enabled
2. Transfers through CIFS/SMB and FTP are blazingly fast outside of Acronis

If there's a better way to backup to the NAS over Ethernet...please let me know.

Hello Steve Griesmyer,

Thank you for posting this issue in our forum.

The FTP protocol itself is, compered with the newer ways, much slower. I suggest simple to open a network share for the dedicated user and backup to this share, using UNC path. This is the most common way to backup to a nas device.

You also should check if you have set the validation from 'validate entire archive' to 'latest backup' to speed up the validation speed.

If you need additional assistance, please create a system report of the affected machine and contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.
