Backup plan
Hi,
We recently set up Acronis Backup for a client of ours and I'm noticing that the incremental backup do not append the original full backup so my backup drive keeps growing in size. I'm concerned that having so many incremental backups will make it difficult to find specific files that may need to be restored. Also I am concerned that the continually growing backups will eventually fill the drive. So:
1) Is it difficult to browse the catalog when you have many multiple copies of the same file backed up? Does it show it all in 1 interface or do I have to go through each backup file individually?
2) Is there some other way I should be setting up my backup to over write older versions so that the size doesn't grow too large and outgrow the drive I have it stored on? It is nearly a 1 TB full backup already and I would like to set up a cloud synchronization so I can't be making multiple full backups or they will take weeks to synchronize. I need to be able to get the full backup to synchronize once then the incremental backups to synchronize when there are changes.
Thank you
Burt

Thank you for the reply...sorry I couldn't get back to this sooner.
I will probably implement something similar in terms of retention. I'm used to setting things a bit differently with other software so this one can be confusing.
What about recovery though? With so many different backups do you have to go through each backup individually to find the file you want or does the software list out all the files in 1 location with each version of the file? That is really my biggest concern right now. When we tested we didn't have multiple copies of the same file to see how the recovery went.

Hello Burt,
If you have different backups with the same content, you may want to use the data catlog, which shows all available file versions from all backups. Use the Versions list to select the point of time to revert the data to. By default, the data will be reverted to latest point of time available for the time period selected. Here you will find detailed information on the data catalog.
Thank you,
