backup of simple Hyper-V host without the Hyper-V edition?
Interested in purchasing Acronis for a small location with a single server hosting a couple of smaller Hyper-V machines. Unfortunately Acronis Backup Advanced for Hyper-V is out of our price range. However, I believe the standard Acronis Backup will work for us and I'd like to confirm.
I believe the standard Backup product will allow us to backup the entire host and restore just the Hyper-V .vhdx/etc. files if needed, is that correct?
I believe the only limitation for us would be that we could not do a Hyper-V aware backup of a VM? Meaning a restore of a single VM would be a bit more time consuming, because perhaps I'd have to recreate the VM in Hyper-V and attach it to the restored .vhdx file.
Is that correct? If so that's a limitation we'd be willing to live with in this situation.
Thanks!

I assume you are referring to the Backup Option that defaults to "Use Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS)"?
I'm curious, in what instances would I not want to use VSS?

Hello Kremlar,
you won't need VSS enabled if you don't have any VSS-aware applications on your machine.
In this case simple disk snapshot will be enough to ensure consistency of backup.
