Bootable Medium: error on Acronis Backup selection: "Unable to load initial RAMdisk"

Thread needs solution

Bootable CD prepared with no error messages.

Acronis screen can then boot from this CD. But when Acronis Backup button is clicked, message appears "Unable to load initial RAMdisk" Press Enter to proceed...

When <Enter> is pressed the system just hangs.

System: WIN7Prof(32bit) +SP1 - 3 GHz - 4GB RAM

Hello John,

Something like this is usually a media/hardware issue. I would suggest trying to recreate the media (for example, on a USB flash drive)

Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion - unfortunately I don't have a boot from flash drive option.

This situation is a real pain. For years I have been using Acronis True Image Home with no problems & have created several bootable CD-ROMS.

Now I upgrade to Backup, the first thing it does is wipe out my copy of Home, which I now can't use, and now it can't handle a perfectly standard CDROM drive that Home could handle without problems.

At best over-complicated, at worst flakey. Very different from the previous software. Checking around my Australian colleagues the word is that it's now just too picky to use professionally.
