Can I backup and strip file ownership and other permissions?

Thread needs solution

I'm running Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 for Windows.

After backing up account, X on the local machine, I mounted the image and found I could see but not view the files as I did not have permission.

As I test I set all files to Everyone Full-Control. I did another backup, and now I was able to files in the mounted image. This however is an ugly solution and not how I want to keep things going forward.

My real question is: Can I do a backup where permissions are stripped?

Hello Luke,

We have a setting to control backup of file-level security permissions during file backup (but not disk backup).

During file restoration, you can also strip the security permissions with another setting.

Thank you Igor,

This is exactly what I'm looking for.
I'll give it a try and post results.

PS. If I'm backing up L:\users\Administrator how do I specify file vs disk?
I think currently it's backing up the whole disk.

Thanks again

Hello Luke,

If you are selecting specific folders for backup, you most probably doing a file backup.

You can check the documentation here to see information on selecting different data types.
