Can't use TIB files after burning to a DVD

Thread needs solution

I am attempting to do a simple backup/restore using Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5, and for reasons beyond my control, the backup MUST be done using DVDs. When I backup straight to DVD the TIB files are not accessible from Windows, giving me the "The file is corrupt or already mounted" error. When I try to access the files from the boot media, they are not recognized at all. If I back up to the hard drive first, I can access the TIB files, but once I burn them to DVD, they become useless again. I can't access them from windows or boot media.

Things I've tried:
Backing up directly to DVDs (with and without boot media included)
Backing up to hard disk, then burning to DVDs in Windows
Burning up to hard disk, then burning to DVDs in Linux
Burning to +R and -R DVDs
Burning with different DVD drives

After all of these, the TIB files are said to be corrupt, and are not recognized by boot media.

How exactly do you access them ? Doubleclick, from context menu in windows explorer, from 'recover' operation in Management Console ?
Does .xml meta file appear on the DVD too?

Yes, double clicking, and from the context menu. The xml files are on the dvd as well, though the images open corectly from their original locations whether the xml is there or not.
