Catalog very slow

Thread needs solution

Hi, i'm expecting problems during the catalog phase; the backup task completes succesfully but I can't see the data. In the "archive view" I can see only one archive even if there are 24 archives and 100+ backups

The configuration is:

Server 1 OS 2012R2 RAM 16GB --> Management Server - Management Console

Server 2 OS 2012R2 RAM 16GB --> Storage Node with two dedicated HD, one for catalog and the other for deduplication DB

Vault Centralized - Managed - Deduplication enabled - not encrypted; backup target is a gigabit NAS server.

The system ask me a full catalog and if I launch that task it takes 20+ hours but I can't still view the data to recover.

Thanks

Hello ste875,

Thank you for your posting! You don't need the catalog to recover from your backups. The data catalog (available in the data view of the vault) is meant only to make it easier to find the right data revision. So it does not affect the restore functionality. However if backups are not shown in the archive view (where actual data are shown) it means that the software cannot recognise they because of e.g. metadata corruption.

As the issue occurs to the deduplicated vault, I would first of all make sure you are using a new format of the deduplication database. If not, please re-create the database using instructions from our documentation.

Please also make sure your ASN server meets all requirements for deduplication.

Thank you,
