Creating WinPE Media by Manually Browsing for WinPE Files

Thread needs solution

When building WinPE bootable media, there are two choices presented in the Wizard. The first is to create the bootable media automatically, the second option is to manually browse for the folder containing the WinPE files.

I'm trying to use the option to manually point to the WinPE files but no matter what directory I point to in the Windows ADK folder structure I keep getting an error stating that the needed files could not be found. Does anyone know exactly what Backup and Recovery is looking for?

More Information: My reason for going the manual route is that I am experimenting with Win 8.1 and WinPE 4.1 which is not yet recognized automatically by Backup and Recovery. I was hoping that by manually pointing to the files that it might still work.

Please note that what I am doing now is using the WinPE version 4 installation on Windows 8 which is supported. I'm simply trying to figure out what it is looking for when using the option to browse to the WinPE files. Nowhere does this seem to be documented. All the documentation I've seen seems to guide you through the automatic procedure.

Winpe 5.0 (not 4.1), included in ADK 4.1 (that is based on Windows 8.1) is not supported yet.
Folder structure required for manually selecting winPE files are created using 'copype' command, however as ADK 4.1 is not recognized by current Backup&Recovery, it tries to check if this is a WinPE 1.6 folder structure (that doesn't require ADK installed) and gives this error.

Thanks for your quick response. Sorry about the version number errors. Glad you knew what I was talking about anyway :-)
