Data Store File is Corrupted

Thread needs solution

I am having some issues with my deduplicating vault. Attempting to re-attach the vault gives me the "The data store file is corrupted".

1. The first issue is that I receive the error below when I try to re-attach the vault with the purpose of re-creating the database. I'm doing this to take advantage of the new deduplication logic that was introduced in update 6. It attempts to re-attach the vault and fails out in a couple of minutes. Thankfully I have backed up the old database and have managed to re-attach the vault, which leads me to my next issue.

2. I cannot recover from the same deduplicated vault over the network. I can recover from other non-deduplicated managed vaults, and I can also recover from my test deduplicated vault from over the network. So I know that it is the vault itself.

So here is my question. Does the error below basically tell me that my vault is hosed and cannot be saved, or is there someway I can fix this problem. I can quickly set up a second deduplicating vault and point my machines to backup to there, but I would like to do whatever I can to save my previous backups. Help me Acronis community, you're my only hope.

Hello Kevin,

Thank you for your posting! We discussed the issue with our experts and unfortunately the datastore file seems to be really corrupted. I would suggest to diagnose the storage where the datastore file resides with CHKDSK and try to move the vault contents to some other location according to this article

Thank you,

Thank you for your reply.

I will try to move the vault contents to another location, if I can use the old backups in case something happens, great, if not there isn't much I can do. I did create another vault and pointed all of my backup plans to it, so fingers crossed no issues occur anytime soon. To prevent an issue, such as this, from happening again, would replication be ideal? I am thinking about setting up another storage node with a second deduplicating vault to replicate the first deduplicating vault. I need a way to ensure that my backups will be safe from corruption. Is this the correct way to go?

Thanks.

Hello,

I have the same problem, with the same build number.
Is there a solution to recover some archives which doesn't have any problem in the deduplication database?
Or is it possible to repair the store file?

Thanks.

Hi all,

Kevin, to ensure that the vault is in a consistent state, validate it periodically.  Replication will also increase the reliability.

Gergely Vaszlik, first of all update to the latest build 43994, then test restore. If fails, create new full backup of all data and then test restore option. It may help, when the datastore file lacks some elements, which are still physically present on protected machines and new full backup may add these files to datastore, if we are lucky.

Thank you,
