General question about full machine backups
Hi
i recently bought and installed ABR11.5. Configuration took quite a while and forced me to do some researches about all the possibilities and what i need after all.
The backup is now running every day while users are working on the machines. This means complete machine image backups, monthly full, weekly differential and daily incremental.
My question now: is the software able to backup ALL data if i'm working on the machine? For example, Outlook is always open while i'm working, is ABR11.5 able to backup my pst files while Outlook is running? What with actually open excel or word or other files?
Systems: "IBM compatible" PC's with Win7 64bit, SSD drives
Thank you very much
Regards
Oliver

Hello Oliver,
Thank you for posting your question in our forum.
I want to thank Colin for supporting you.
You can find the way, how Acronis products snapshot is working in this article from our knowledge base.
In general, the snapshot is catching the data like a bitmap picture. This data only contains the data that are stored on the drive at this moment. Whatever data are in memory, they are not backed up except on systems that can use VSS provider.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.
