How to restore Vcenter from backup onto an Esxi host when Vcenter is down!?

Thread needs solution

Hi Guys,

Our Vcenter has died a death, some sort of corruption, I am attempting a "Recover as VM" from our backups from last week using 'Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5' but i am unable to recover it back to the Esxi host of my choice due to the fact im getting errors:

Failed to create a dummy virtual machine.
Requested host 'host-186409' cannot be found.
Failed to connect to the ESX(i) server 'mdcvcenter1r......

Any ideas on the best method to recover this VM to an ESXI host of my choice without actually having Vcenter up and running at present?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Best regards

Terry

Hi Terry,

Thank you for your posting! I would recommend to disable a vCenter integration and then to re-add the host 'host-186409' to the AMS. After that please re-attempt the restore. You can also restore the VM under bootable media. Create a new empty VM on the host, boot this VM with a bootable media and then restore the backup.

Thank you,
