Just started with B&R11.5 - SBS -Questions

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

i just started with the Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 Advanced Server SBS Edition on a SBS2003R2 Premium Installation and now i have some questions:

1.) Can i make an image of the sbsserver without having VSS beeing turned on (because i use online backup function from ntback to have the information store beeing defragmented) - so i like to exclude the exchange db from being backed up

2.) What happens with the sbs sqlserver database of the sbs - will it be backed up with the SBS Edition or not?

Thanks in advance

Peter

Hello Peter Mang,

Thank you for posting your question in our forum. I am happy to assist you solving your issue.

I want to answer your questions:

  1. You can disable the VSS snapshot, but there is no need to run two backup solutions on your server. Your Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 Advanced Server SBS Edition contains also an Agent for Exchange and I will recommend using this to back up your Exchange Server.
  2. When backing up without VSS Snapshot all Databases, MS Exchange and Active Directory are not consistently. I recommend switching of your MS NT Backup and using your Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 Advanced Server SBS Edition instead.

Find more information about in our online help.

Section about backing up Exchange data.

See information about Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).

If there is anything else, we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.
