Problem with Dell's

Thread needs solution

Trying to restore a backup of an old dell to a new computer. The universal restore is looiking for some files, but can't find them on the Web. Tried extracting the Dell driver files, but they're no in an *.inf format. Dell uses *.cab files instead. Anyone know a way around this? Mainly I need know why a restore to a newer comuter just keeps BSODing repeatedly. Think it's hard drive controller info but not sure.

Hello Sun Joh,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum.

You need to unpack the .cab files (this are compressed archives, like ZIP) using an unzipper. In the internet, you might find many freeware unzipper, that support unzipping .cab files. In addition, you can use manual unpacking. See this instructions from internet.

Only full unpacked drivers containing .inf or .oem and .dll, .sys could be used for running Acronis Universal Restore. For more information see this article from our knowledge base.

If you need additional assistance, please create a system report of the affected machine and contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.
