RAM needed for Deduplication

Thread needs solution

Hello,

we have a problem with Acronis B&R 11.5. The deduplcation isn't running since months.
The support came to the conclusion, that we needed more RAM on the Backup Server and calculates as follows:

Size of Dedup Database / 0.8 = RAM
Our Dedup Database has 112GB => so 140GB RAM would be needed..

The Server has 32 GB.
All Acronis Processestogether occupy 17GB RAM. 10GB RAM is free and never touched.

In this time no one bit was added as deduplicated..

Before i'm buying like 128GB more RAM 2 questions:

1. Why is Acronis only taking 17GB, and 10GB are still free?
2. What happens if more dedup data is added, which as far as i understand would grow logarithmic

Best regards,
C.

Hello,

i dont think you need 125GB of RAM.

Our Data in the Dedup Vault is 500 GB and the Dedup DB have 16 GB.
The Server have 96 GB RAM, and 20 GB is in use.

I cant say why 20GB are in use but it works fine with this configuration.
