Recovery media created with Linux System and "Linux Like" drive representation

Thread needs solution

Hello,
I created a Recovery media with Acronis Linux System booted. For the drive representation I configured "Linux like".
Afterwards I tried to boot from that CD and to do a backup of the Windows7 system disk to another hard disk which is within the system only for backup issues. That disk has a NTFS file system. It was not possible to choose that hard disk for a backup. I got a error message that it is a read only file system.
Then I switched within the Acronis UI to "Windows like" representation -> UI was starting again and afterwards there was no problem to create the backup at the NTFS hard disk.
So my question is: What does the drive representation has to do with the access to the NTFS file system for backup????
Thanks and best Regards,
Juergen

Media in linux-style and windows-style representations use different drivers to access NTFS file system. Linux-style media uses kernel drivers that provide read-only access to NTFS. On the other hand, some features like restoring MD devices or LVM are available only in Linux-style media.

Is there a list what is possible and what is not possible with a) Linux Like Style and b) Windows Like Style.
Because my understanding was that this is only the "look&feel" what is different to both options and below the UserInterface all functions are possible.
That is really confusing!!!
So is there a list/table available??

Hello Juergen,

Thank you for your reply.

Hopefully the following guide will be useful to you. Please let me know if you need additional help.

Thank you.

There is no such list. Some features that are available only in Linux-like representation are marked as available only under Linux-based bootable media , like, e.g. NFS drives as backup destination - http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11.5/index.html#867.html . But it's not that 'Linux-based media' always means 'Linux-based media in Linux-like representation' , such as http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11.5/index.html#22998.h… - you can use media with Windows-like representation to recover to UEFI system.
