Recovery from Windows 8 totally fails

Thread needs solution

This weekend my new Dell Inspiron 7720 crashed on a microsoft update. So i thought, let's recover the image i made a week ago of the 2 disks in my Dell. So i start up with the Acronis CD and select the whole DISK1 & SSD DISK2 to recover. Acronis B&R 11.5 didn't give any error when it was ready. When i restarted the notebook it says: "unable to find operating system" ??

Then i tried several methods to recover my data but all fails.
Can someone please help me? i am very disappointed in B&R right now.

Yes, I have seen some "wonky" things happen before, but I would suggest you only restore the disk that has your operating system OR at least make sure that the MBR is being put on the right disk, since I have seen Acronis sometimes put it on the secondary disk versus the Primary. This happens when you have the disks physically cabled in specific slots that sometimes detect as Primary and Secondary, so even though you use it as C: it will sometimes show up as D: to the BIOS and Acronis.

After that, if you are truly desperate then you will have to install Windows again and if you can at least open the Acronis backup files through the viewer then you can at least pull out the files, so you do not lose everything. I used to get a lot of failed backups and restores when I first started using Acronis, so you just have to make sure your system is set up properly and Universal Restore is almost a requirement although they charge you separately for that.

I cannot complain because I have already been able to successfully backup "Windows 8 To Go" and restore onto another USB drive, so Acronis 11.5 Workstation is working for me... :)

Good Luck...
