Refreshing a Catalog
The build version in use is 32256.
Is there a way to force a re cataloging of an archive?
I have tried deleting the catalog, but found that following the next backup, a new catalog was not created ( as I had expected ).
In previous versions before 11, I seem to recall able to use a task-action to do a fresh catalog.
But I am unable to find it now with the present version.
Any help appreciated. Thanks

Thanks, Colin.
This is where I am stumped!
I am sure I use to see it in a previous version. Or maybe it was the Server version of ABR 11.
But even so, there ought not to be any difference in this respect between the Server and Workstation versions.

Gary,
Snipshot as promised. You have two ways of updating the catalogue, either the link above the archive list or the button in the bottom right hand corner.
Note, I'm using a local vault, whether there is any difference if using a centralised one I'm not sure.

Thanks for taking the trouble, Colin - and for your patience.
I am still no closer to resolving the issue.
The following screenshots will better illustrate what I meant about not being able to catalog.
The first attachment shows what I would consider as normal ie both Data and Archive views are available.
However, the second attachment will show that with this particular vault, the Data view is not available for some reasons.
I have tried deleting the vault completely and did a fresh backup. The result was the same. No catalog was created. And the Data view is unavailable for me to do a catalog as suggested by you.

Gary,
It would have been helpful to show more of the page as just showing me the archive names doesn't give me any ideas or show me exactly what you see.
Is your data archive a files and folders backup or a machine/disk/partition?
Perhaps cataloguing doesn't work if you only make a files and folders backup.
What type of backup plan are you using for this archive?

Hi, Colin.
Attached are 2 full screen-shots.
Attach 1 shows a personal vault on another disk volume.
Backup is of the type, files and folders.
Clearly, the data/archive views is visible and catalog feature is available.
Attach 2 shows the rouge personal vault.
Backup is also of the type, files and folders.
But the data/archive view is unavailable and therefore cataloging is not feasible.
Backup plan used is GFS.
Difference between the 2 volumes used is that Attach 1 is on an external USB disk.
Attach 2 is an SDHC card, with option in ABR to use as a fixed disk.
Thanks

Gary,
I'm sorry I don't see catalogue availability on either of the screenshots you posted compared to my screenshot.
If though you can catalogue the files on the disk rather than the SD card I would suspect that is where the problem lies, SD Cards might not be able to be catalogued in the same way as fixed disks.

If the problem vault is located on a removable drive, it's normal because catalog is not available for such vaults. No matter if it is used in fixed device mode or not - http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11.5/index.html#14806.h…

Thank you both for helping me clear up the matter.
Colin: Sorry for the inadequate screenshots. I should have attached the one with the vault's Data instead of Archive view.
It's only with the Data view that the Catalog function is available.
