Remote Installation Detection
Hello,
When I tried to remote install acronis components (agent in my case) to domain machines, few machines gave me the "view error details - Network path not found" even though I can ping them. The rest are fine and gave me the "No components installed" which means they are ready for components deployment.
The odd here is that the "Next" button is still dimmed which is very strange. Although few machines cannot be contacted by the server (I don't know why, I can ping them fine), the "Next" should be available and to let me install the other machines. In other words, the remote installation wizard will activate the "Next" button ONLY IF all machines are detected without errors.
Please advise

Dear Igor,
Thanks for your detailed explanation.
Yes, I had to remove them manually in order to complete the deployment and it works great. However, when I added those few machines again, it still shows me that they cannot be contacted. I can ping them, access their shares, and even their hidden shares. I am not sure what is the problem. I tried to inspect the log files but I couldn't locate them.

Dear Igor,
Another issue arose. I tested the remote install to only one machine to check if the feature works from the ground up.
After a successful remote installation with a happy green check mark, the remote machine failed to be registered to the management server. I said "It works great" at the time of a successful installation then I get the registration failure afterwards.
Please advise.

Dear Igor,
Furthermore, I'd like to add a technical note regarding the remote install feature. I noticed that feature re-installs the Acronis component(s) on already installed machines. For example, When I tried to re-register the remote machine to the mgmt server again, the remote install attempts to re-install the component(s) prior registration.
My note is, the remote install should throw me a message like the below:
"The remote machine had Acronis components already installed. Do you want to register it to the mgmt server?"
Also, I tried to look for a tool inside the software to directly register the (already installed) remote machines without going through the remote installation wizard.
Hope I clarified my point.
Thanks :)

Hello Ahmed,
The remote install feature is designed this way because it doesn't simply reinstall the agent, but rather updates it. This is way to run remote updates on your environment.
However, if a previous version is installed, the "add machine" functionality should definitely detect that agent and try to add it.
As for the error you are expereincing: can you provide a list of installed components on this agent? (for example, run this command in the Windows cmd: wmic product where vendor="Acronis" list)
