Replication on a second place - external hdd

Thread needs solution

Hi,

i want to replicate my backup to an external hdd. This will function so long the same external hdd is connected.

If i change the external hdd and create the same folders like on the other external hdd the replication fails.

I have set the external hdd to a central depot.

The error log:
Fehlercode: 101
Module: 39
LineInfo: d2f435cbb7614e1c
Felder: $module : storage_server_vs_32308
Nachricht: Es gibt keine Metadaten zum Archiv 'D717AAA7-C1BD-4EBA-8519-3950F596E4F2' aus dem Depot 'ExtHdd'.

How can i fix that. The external hdd will changed every week.

Hello Thomas Heinze,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

I suggest not to add the second destination to a centralized vault. The reason behind is, that the Acronis Storage Node does not support changeable media. However you can add the external HDD to a personal vault. For more information see the user guide: Replication and retention of backups.

If you need additional assistance, please create a system report of the affected machine and contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.

Hi Thomas Heinze
You can replicate backups onto an external HDD, but you cannot swap the HDDs in this case. When replicating to a 2nd location, ABR writes metadata to this location. By swapping HDDs you make this metadata not available. What you can do:
1) If your backups are not large, set up retention rules so that the same HDD is always used.

2) Use the "replicate backup" command. If the target archive exists, the command will append the backup to it. Otherwise, it will create a new archive. This way, you will have at least one full backup on each of HDDs.

3) If you aim at storing the replicated backups offsite, replicate to Online instead.
