[RESOLVED] Backing up on RDX drive fails

Thread needs solution

Hello dear supporters,

we have a customer on our hands who has problems to back up on an RDX drive.
He says that there is a problem mounting the new device after swaping out the full one.

The server is in a closed network, just the RDX drive and some clients are connected to it (clients via switches).
Backup jobs should rund every week on that RDX drive.

Is there any issue known to cause mounting problems with those drives?
I could not find any new posts about this through the forum search, only old posts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! If you need any further information, please ask!

Cheers, Chris

Hi Chris,

Can you please elaborate what you mean by "mounting problem"? Is this a Linux server?

Is the cartridge accessible through the OS file system when the "mounting problem" occurs and just not visible from Acronis? Or is the cartridge not found by both the OS and Acronis Backup and Recovery?

Thanks
Dan

Hey Dan,

I got this much out of our customer:

The drive mounted when you create the job will get a specific ID. Acronis then checks for that ID when the next job is about to start.
If you swap the drives and plug in a new one this one will get another ID. Since The job is searching for the specific ID from drive 1 the job will halt on that error and not start.

In light of that error state I'd normally say that you have to select the RDX system and not the drives itself but that seems not possible.

Any ideas how to get rid of that problem?

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris, Are you aware of this ap-note detailing how to configure the backups for use with RDX? Do you know if the backups are configured in this way?

Hey Dan,

thanks for that reply!

I will make sure to get this info to our technician (as I only do the remote things) and then get some feedback in here :)

Thanks
Chris
