[RESOLVED] SBS2008 will not start after using abr_cleanup.exe --clean SOLVED Thanks to Dev

Thread needs solution

Okay this is my problem.
I have used the clean utility but by mistake forgot to remove the registry settings for snapman etc.
Now the system SB2008 r2 will come up with snapapint64.dll not found and it will not boot even in safe mode.
Is there a way to use an offline registry editor that will allow me to change the registry.
I do have a backup, but one with the mistake. The reason for deleting Acronis was that the backup's didn't work so I ran a backup with the bootable Acronis DVD.

Any ideas

Thanks

In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager
in value BootExecute (reg_multi_sz type) remove string containing auto_reactivate

It is located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\system registry file.

Thanks for your reply, but I cannot edit the registry. I cannot even start the system in safe mode.

I have just purchased an offline registry editor and hpe that will do the job.

There are a couple of device class filters that need to be deleted. But from what you are suggesting is that I only need to remove that string only (?)

thans Johan

You mentioned offline registry editor so I decided that you are going to use it as the system doesn't boot.
BSOD with snapapint(64).dll occurs not because of leftover in device filters. You may check them too, but if they were wrong, BSOD 7B type would have occurred before instead of this one.

If you were a woman ......

You are GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why couldn't ACRONIS tell me this I have been talking with them since last sunday.

The system is back

Thanks and when you are in the Netherlands give me a call.
