[RESOLVED] service_process.exe and StorageServer.exe App-Crash

Thread needs solution

service_process.exe and StorageServer.exe App-Crash

We get this errors during the backups and the jobs/tasks are terminated with a error.
We are on the latest build (37608), but we perceive this crashes also on previous builds (from time to time).
So this problems are not new to us.

Any similar experiences or maybe solution for this?

Thanks.

Hello Sascha Abplanalp,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

In the message I could see, that the fault is caused by KERNELBASE.dll. I could find this thread at the Microsoft forum:

Programs Crash, error: Fault module kernelbase.dll . Application crash

In this case, the used user profile was corrupt. Using another user solve the issue. Also please ensure, that the operating system is on the latest update.

If you need additional assistance, please create a system report of the affected machine and contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.

We opened a Acronis support case and submitted some system and crash dumps.
The Acronis engineering team is analyzing the data....

Reply from Acronis support:

The root case of the "service_process.exe" crashes are are ASN crashes. This is a known problem and will be solved in the next hotfix update.
From the Acronis engineering team: It's possible, that the cataloging task is provocating the ASN crashes. For customers who are affected from this problem, it is recommended to switch off the cataloging.

To switch off "cataloging", change or add the following registry key (DWORD) to 0=off:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\ASN\Configuration\Catalog\Enabled

http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11.5/index.html#23955.h…
The parameter is a string value that should be manually added to the corresponding Catalog key in the registry. If this parameter is missing in the registry, cataloging is enabled on the storage node.

Possible values: 0 (disables cataloging) or 1 (enables cataloging)
Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\ASN\Configuration\Catalog\Enabled
If cataloging is disabled, the storage node will not catalog backups in the managed vaults. Therefore, the Data view and Data catalog will not display this data.

Hello Sascha Abplanalp,
