Run second task while replicating

I have a Windows SBS 2011 Essentials Server that I am trying to backup to a remote NAS (over a 2 Mbps VPN link). Due to the slow link, I am wanting to perform the backup to a local HDD and then replicate it to the NAS. Backing up directly to the NAS can take from an hour to several days depending on the the data size during which other backup tasks cannot run. My idea was to backup locally first (which I need to do anyway) after which other tasks can be processed. After the local backup, I want it to replicate to the NAS. The problem is that Acronis treats replication as part of the backup task so no other tasks can run in the meantime.

Any ideas?

(I am new to Acronis and SMB backup so forgive me if I'm missing something basic)

It's impossible to run other backup even during replication activity of a different plan. This is currently considered as an enhancement request.

Ok. What would be the recommended way to deal with my setup? Surely this is a common issue (slow links/extended backups to remote sites).
