[SOLVED] Backup a SQL Express DB
Hello,
we have an environment with Acronis Backup Advanced 11.5 and standard data backup jobs.
Now I need to put under backup (and be able to restore od couorse!) an application which uses a SQL Express DB. I tried to read the documentation and I understand that the standard solution is to install Acronis for SQL agent on the target machine and simply point it to the backups. What I need to understand:
1. can I just install Acronis agent for SQL on the target machine and interact with it through the AMS?
2. Or do I need a new AMS specific for SQL?
Thanks
Luka

Hello Luka,
Thank you for your posting! In order to backup SQL databases you need to install Agent for Windows + Agent for SQL on the machine where SQL is running (Please be aware that not all licenses include an Agent for SQL. Here you will find the list of the licenses which allow to install the Agent for SQL). After installation is completed please add this machine to the AMS. Now you can create centralized backup tasks for this machine and manage it remotely like all other Agents. Please use the Single Pass option to perform the SQL-aware backup.
Thank you,
