[SOLVED] Deleting a machine from AMS

Thread needs solution

Hello,

we are having a machine stuck on backups from what it seems like a licencing error. There is a non-used licence available. But if I try to change the licence for the workstation in question the prompt says there are no licences available.

So I figured out I could try to delete the machine from the AMS and add it back again. The question is.
1. what does this action exactly do on the server side?
2. what does this action exactly do on the client side?

It is absolutely critical for our environment that the client doesn't get modified in any way. So if I can remove the machine and then just add it back, well, I could try that.

Thanks for the attention

It depends on what 'modified' exactly means. On the client side registry under HKLM\Software\Acronis is changed to reflect the AMS address and MachineID . On server side the client machine is added/removed to the database. No new software is installed on the client when it is added to the AMS (unless you add an empty machine and remote installation is required).

Thanks for the answer.

You gave me the answer for 'modified' client-side: it implies only a registry change. On the server side the client gets removed from the database. So to close the circle:

The last piece I'm missing: if the client gets removed from the AMS, the Acronis software remain installed client-side, how can I add it back? I mean AMS still needs to see the client to be able to add it back and create a backup plan.

Thanks
