Struggling to take backup to network drive

Thread needs solution

Hey guys,

I'm using Workstation 11.5 and I'm trying to take a backup to a network drive using either SMB or FTP but both are failing and I don't understand why.

Here are the error messages I get when I start the backup:

Am I right in thinking this is telling me the drive is disconnected? If so, that's rubbish, the drive is sitting there and is accessible through Windows no problem. If it's trying to claim the \\nd-xs\backups folder doesn't exist then this too is rubbish as that folder most definitely does and I can write to it. I have attempted to set the user access information and this all worked fine on the "set location" screen that's before the go button and this user has write rights to the backups folder. I am at a total loss and about to throw the whole lot out the window!

Oh I also tried to map a network drive but this does not show up as a location when I run Acronis, I figure this is because the program is being run as a different user ... how do I get it to recognise a network drive? Perhaps doing it this way would help ...

Thanks,
AC.

Hello Adam C,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

Please try to use the default UNC path name, not FTP. Check if your NAS have a sleep timer, that can result in a failed operation.

Try to set a specific user for this share and remove the groups and access for anonymous.

On QNAP NAS you have to use domain.local\User to get connected.

If you need additional assistance, please create a system report of the affected machine and contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.
