Task stopped at 20% for last 27 days

Thread needs solution

Hello,

As stated in the subject, I have a job that has been stuck on 20% for the past 27 days. I restarted the server, restarted all Acronis services multiple time, and tried the schedmgr.exe to try to remove the task. I cannot get the task to stop. When I left-click on Stop in the management console it cycles for a second and the task is still running. The schedmgr.exe does not even list the Acronis tasks  to delete or kill them. I cannot see anything in the progress section to see what workstation could be causing this.

 

In Googling the solution I saw that others here referred to a abr11_ams_activities_plans_fix.exe file for a fix.

 

I am using Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 (build 11.5.39029).

 

Let me know what I should be doing to remedy this situation.

Hello Ryan,

Welcome to Acronis user forums! Are you using a centralized plan created on the Acronis Management Center or a local plan created when the Acronis Management Console is connected to the respective Agent? Is the task shown as active only on AMS or on the Agent too? Have you tried to launch Windows Task Manager and remove the following processes: mms.exe and service_process.exe

When you start a new task - does it hang on 20%? if yes, please check the logs, are there any clues? 20% is the stage when a system snapshot is being created, so likely the issue is realated to this process. I'd recommend checking Windows Event logs on the Agent machine for any VSS related errors\warnings. Please post error messages to this thread.

If backups run as intended and the incorrect information is shown only in the AMS view, we can use AMS troubleshooting script, that should fix any inconsistencies between AMS and Agent. Include the parameter -fix all. It's better to stop Acronis services prior execution of the script.

I have the same problem.  I am running 11.7 for Windows Server.  My backup hangs up at 20%, It runs through:

Analyzing Partition

Creating Partition Image

Saving Partition Structure

Then Hangs up on Create Full Backup from disk

Hello GP,

Any other messages in the Acronis log and Event Viewer (check System and Application logs for any Disk, VSS entries)? The attached error tells that the backup has been canceled by user, probably due to the stalled state. 

To localize the issue, I'd suggest the following steps:
1. Try to back up different partitions (one by one). Does the issue persist on all partitions?
2. Run chkdsk against all drives
3. Disable VSS in the backup task (select Do not use VSS) and re-attempt backup, the same results? 

Are you using any pre\post commands in the backup plan?
