using blank user and blank password on NAS - Restore will not let me access the UNC
i am using an external hdd as my primary storage for images and i have tested a restore using the boot disk, which was succesful.
my problem is i am also creating images in a secondary location. a nas server. this server gets used for a few things and i have cifs setup with no username or password. i can access all my data with no problems and i can save the images (as a secondary location).
the problem is when i tried a restore using the boot disc from the networked disk. everything was going well the network is working - when i click workgroup i see a list of my workstations. when i try to access my images i am asked to input a username and password - even though there is not one set on the server.
what do i need to do - if i close the dialog - it pops back again.
i know there are probably not very many people with no password - but the main use of the server is for streaming video to my wife and son - i don't really want to mess with passwords.
it's not life and death accessing the second storage - this is really just a backup of the external hdd. but i don't like to be defeated - if anybody has a clue how to help i'd really appreciate it
thank you
