Warning and Advice on Uninstalling 11.5 after Going back to W7 from W10

Thread needs solution

I made the mistake of updating to W10 and after a week decided to go back to W7. Unfortunately I had updated Acronis 11.5 and on reverting, Acronis files were corrupted. I uninstalled the software, but the components are still showing up as being installed. I've run Regeditand found where all the keys are located, but don't know if its safe to delete them. One video on YouTube suggests deleting the Acronis folder under Hkey_Current_User/Software, but I'm unsure if this is going to cause a problem though logically it shouldn't. I generally don't mess around with the registry am I'm unsure if I do delete the folder how that will affect all the Acronis keys individually or are they taken care of and deleted automatically? Thanks for any advice.

As a word of warning, DON'T UPDATE TO W10! If you do don't update Acronis 11.5 until you're 100% certain you're going to keep it. I only went back to W7 when problems cropped up and became more persistant after a weeks use, by which time I'd already updated Acronis 11.5.

Hello Nicholas,

Thank you for your posting! I would recommend using Acronis Cleanup Utility. This script will remove all remaining Acronis entries.

Thank you,

I've run the utility (it worked) and checked the two keys for the string values listed in the online documentation for abr_cleanup_h.exe. When I now try installing Acronis backup 11.5, I run into the same error as I originally had - when the installer starts installing Agent for Windows it fails after a few seconds and it's all over! I've checked the registry with Revo Uninstaller Pro and the 5 apps are still listed, in Install section, even after running abr_cleanup_h.exe. It seems like bad practice when software that's meant to uninstall everything doesn't function as required. I've also scanned the registry with regedit and there are still references to Acronis e.g. AcronisVSS.com and AcronisVSS.com.1. Thank you for your advice, but this is totally frustrating.

See if any Acronis User Agents in Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Local Users and Groups/Users are there and if yes, delete all of them.  This should allow the install to proceed and create a new User Agent.
