Windows Server 2008 R2 cannot load from Acronis backup image

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have problems with clone HDD with Windows Server 2008.

Previously Windows Server 2008 R2 installed on RAID1 massive.
However both HDDs in RAID1 was damaged (bad clusters & SMART event warnings).

I created clone of Windows Server massive on separate HDD (without RAID mode, single drive)

Image created "as is". Windows NT signature copied to HDD clone from RAID massive.

If I point BIOS to load from clone HDD then Windows Server started but machine rebooted before login prompt.

Why? Backup & Recovery cannot support clones of Window Server?

I cannot see any difference between clone and original RAID massive.
May be RAID massive name is important for Windows Server?

Thanks for any advice

Hello DMZ,

welcome to our forum and thank you for your posting!

Could you please clarify if you cloned your system to a drive with a dissimilar disk controller?

If so, than the issue might be caused by the lack of needed driver in the cloned system.

Please disable the  automatic restart on system failure to get a BSOD code. If it is 0x0000007B it means that system cannot access boot device.

In this case you need Acronis Universal Restore to move your system to dissimilar hardware.

Thank you.

we restored image through Acronis  on the same server but windows 2008 unable to start. please help me to fix the issue.

Hello Mansoor,

Thank you for your posting! Sorry, but without additional information It's difficult to suggest anything. Would you at least send us a photo of the error message you see when booting?
