11.5 virtual Edition for ESXi 4 without VSphere

Thread needs solution

Hi,

we want to use 11.5 virtual edition for Backups of VMs that run on an ESXi 4 Host without VSphere.
As Backupmedium we want to use USB Harddisks connected to the Host.
Is this possible ?
Can you you give me an Hint how to setup this ?

Thanks a lot

Regards

 Hello Joachim,

thank you for posting this question. I will be pleased to answer it.

You can install Acronis Backup and Recovery 11.5 Virtual Appliance on a ESXi 4 Host and perform virtual machine backup. The only limitation is with the agentless backup on the Free VMware ESXi. You can still install the Agents inside the virtual machine to perform it's backup.

Acronis Backup and Recovery 11.5 Virtual Appliance does not support USB hard drivers directly attached to the ESX host, and this feature is not yet planned for further versions of the product. So far this functionality has been deactivated due to the issues during the virtual machine backup it may cause. Should there be any changes in future regarding this topic, these will be published in the Knowledge Base.

For storing the backed up data you can use any of the methods described in this online help topic: Storing the backed up data.

If you have any other question, please let me know.

Thank you.
