Acronis Backup 11.5 on Linux (RHEL) cannot remove failed tasks, all new backups fail

Thread needs solution

Acronis Backup 11.5 U6 (build 11.5.43994)
Linux (RHEL 7.1)

There are several tasks that appear to be "Running" in the Activities window, but they are all dead / hung processes.

The machine had a power interruption (long story) a few days back and I have not been able to stop / remove these processes, and any new backup tasks I start also hang.

I have found some references for fixing things like this on Windows, but I am running on RedHat Enterprise Linux and have not seen any postings with this issue.

have looked at command line options like this:

  acrocmd list tasks --output=raw

which returns this:

  Daily backup running succeeded 04.01.2017 18:14:31 23.12.2016 01:29:33 root 682EAA0A-EFFF-4A44-8E0A-3285954211D1 B61D71B0-3703-422D-9555-1240961F605B Engdev GFS

then I try to stop the task:

  acrocmd stop task --id=682EAA0A-EFFF-4A44-8E0A-3285954211D1

list again and get this:

  Daily backup stopping succeeded 04.01.2017 18:14:31 23.12.2016 01:29:33 root 682EAA0A-EFFF-4A44-8E0A-3285954211D1 B61D71B0-3703-422D-9555-1240961F605B Engdev GFS

and it stays on "stopping"

the Activities window shows everything still running (see attachment)

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

ok .. fwiw ..

I killed several acronis processes (related to the stale tasks)

I executed the "init.d / acronis_schedule stop" script (to get rid of error message saying system needed reboot)

I executed the "init.d / acronis_schedule start" script (to make acronis believe it had rebooted)

this managed to get rid of any processes that the system thought were running and the activities disappeared from the Current Activities panel, and I was then able to manually run the backups.

the next day the scheduled backups ran as expected.

thanks for the help :)

I-Tech, thank you for taking the time to share the working solution with the community!

Ekaterina.. no problem..

but...

have another issue..

backup stopped working a couple of days ago.. and I have been unable to get the processes going again.

it was similar.. showing backup tasks running.. but no progress.

followed the same procedure as before.. listing and killing processes..

acrocmd list tasks --output=raw

Monthly backup running succeeded 08.12.2017 23:30:01 11.11.2017 03:21:07 root aaaa bbbbb Dev GFS
Daily backup running succeeded 05.12.2017 23:00:02 04.12.2017 23:09:58 root ccccc dddd Home GFS
Monthly backup running succeeded 08.12.2017 23:00:01 10.11.2017 23:06:30 root eeee ffff Home GFS
Daily backup running succeeded 04.12.2017 23:30:01 01.12.2017 01:49:21 root gggg hhhh Dev GFS

ps -ef | grep -i acronis

matched up the processes with the tasks.. killed them..

they still showed up on the console.. so wanted to stop / restart the processes.

they didn't want to stop.. so killed them too.

now nothing starts. tried all other services .. same thing.. active but exited.

Hi I-Tech,

I'd suggest creating backup plans from scratch with the latest available build 50073 (you can download it under your personal account at https://account.acronis.com/#/products) or I can send you a direct download link. You can export existing plans and import them to the newly installed Agent.
