Acronis Backup 11.7 Advanced UEFI Issues

Thread needs solution

Hi everyone. We currently have Acronis Backup 11.7 Advanced in our organization. We are running into issues when trying to image these new model HP Desktops and Laptops we just got. The desktops are HP EliteDesk 800 G6 SFF and the laptops are HP EliteBook 840 G7. These newer computers no longer support switching to Legacy BIOS mode.

The way we have always done this

1) Take a new machine, wipe it, install Windows 10 fresh, and build it the way we want.

2)  Boot to the Acronis Boot Media (Linux w/ x64 option checked off)

3) Capture the image

4) Take a new machine and wipe all the partitions. Then use the same boot media to boot and image the machine.

The images are stored on an external HDD. We don't do it over the network. We tried capturing one of these machines as is (we didn't wipe anything and captured them how they come out of the box) and that did not work. Basically what happens is after we image it and it reboots, it comes up to solid blue screen with white text on it. It says Reovery and then under that it says your pc needs to be repaired. It spits out the following error code: 0x000000e. I was going to try and make the WinPE media so I downloaded and installed the Win 10 ADK & PE kits for build 20H2. However, after installing that and selecting that during the boot media creation in Acronis, it asks me to point to the PE files and no matter what I point it at it tells me it can't find it. Should be finding it automatically I thought.

Does our version support imaging with UEFI machines or is this an old version problem? If it does, what is the proper way to do this? I have been searching online for a few days now and have not been able to find anything to point me in the right direction. I appreciate your help and time.

Hello Vincent,

Welcome to Acronis forums!

The issue that you described looks like a bootability problem: the target drive is not recognized by a system that you migrated there.

We recommend that you follow these detailed instructions on recovering to dissimilar hardware. Please pay attention to the Preparation part on how to prepare necessary drivers:

Hi Maria,

Thank you for your response. I went through the article you linked. I tried doing it by injecting the drivers into the boot media and by just pointing to them during the recover process and the same error still comes up. I noticed that on a new machine that I haven't touched yet, when I look at the UEFI boot order it shows the M.2 as the primary and says "Windows Boot Manager" next to it. After doing a recover, it just shows M.2 model and does not say Windows Boot Manager. The drivers we injected were the chipset and storage drivers which is what the article mentioned. On the older HP models we used to be able to switch the BIOS back to legacy and everything worked fine but these new models do not allow us to switch to legacy anymore.
