Acronis Backup to NAS

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis Backup 11.5 running on Windows Server 2012R2 Essentials. Currently I am backing up about 800GB of data to a USB3 drive but would like to switch to Synology DS218Play NAS depending on the performance.  I do full disk backup weekly and incremental daily.  In addition to performance are there any special settings I need to do in Acronis Backup?

Hello John,

thanks for posting your question on Acronis forums!

At first, since the end of support for Acronis Backup 11.7, we recommend upgrading to the most current version (# 50420) to ensure your Acronis Backup is up-to-date.

In order to switch to a new backup location on NAS, you can simply copy all your backups to NAS, then add a new backup location - vault with the network share folder on NAS with your backups. Then please create/edit your backup plan for this job.

In case you do not need your old/previous backups to be stored on NAS, you should only create a new vault and create a new (or modify) respective backup plan.
