AcronisBackup 11.7_44409 Bootable ISO image Media cannot start on HP ProLiant G10 DL360 with HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

we are currently using AcronisBackup 11.7_44409 and i would like to create a bootable ISO image media for a HP ProLiant G10 DL360 with HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10 RAID Controller (Firmware 2.62).

RAID 5 with 4 x 500GB SAS Hard Disks created.

Windows Server 2016 installed.

Boot Mode: UEFI

I already installed Acronis 11.7 on the G10 Server and created a bootable ISO image and included the HPE Smart Array driver 106.166.0.1022(20 Dez 2019) with the name "SmartPqi.inf"

Everything looks fine so far.

When i try to boot from the Acronis 11.7 Boot ISO only a black Acronis boot screen appears but nothing happens.

It looks like Acronis cannot find any Hard disks...

Can somebody help please?

Hello Evangelos,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

You experience this issue because drivers for Gen 10 Array Controller P408i-a have been added to the latest released Linux bootable media (Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 build 14330).

Thus, I recommend that you either test Linux bootable media created with Acronis Cyber backup 12.5 trial version (Acronis Universal Restore is not available as the trial limitation) or use WinPE or BartPE media with the Acronis plug-in, and inject the drivers for the array to the media: see Using Acronis Media Builder to Build WinPE with Acronis Plug-In.

Hi Maria :-)

thanks for support!

ok, Acronis 12.5 ISO Boot media created, and Acronis starts! :-)

The Backup can be restored.

(It is an .tib backup created with Acronis 11.7 from a HP ProLiant Gen 9 machine with different Smart Array P440ar Controller)

But now i am facing another issue.

Windows Server 2016 is not starting properly and the blue troubleshooting screen appears. (attached screenshot)

It cannot find any OS.

Standard repair options did not help.

bootrec /fixboot  .../fixmbr  .../rebuildbcd

Do you know how i can repair?

Do you have an idea?

Hello Evangelos.

(It is an .tib backup created with Acronis 11.7 from a HP ProLiant Gen 9 machine with different Smart Array P440ar Controller)

Since you restore to dissimilar hardware, you need to use Acronis Universal Restore which is not available in the trial version. Then the only option here is to create WinPE-based bootable media for recovery.

I also recommend that you follow this step-by-step recovery guide https://kb.acronis.com/content/35681

Hi Maria,

thanks for your answer. :-)

We have a license key for 11.7 and the installation is activated.

Your Link to universal restore says:  "Acronis Backup 11.7 (as a separate tool)"

How can i start the "separate tool" ?
