Backing up virtual Exchange 2013 Server is NOT Purging Logs even VSS Full Backup is enabled
Hello
We have a Hyper-V2012R2 with Acronis Backup 11.5 patch 6 Virtual Edition for MultiHypervisor and would like to backup our Exchange 2013 on a Virtual Windows Server 2012R2.
Backup seems to be running fine, but even with the Option "Enable VSS Full backup option " according https://kb.acronis.com/content/41521 the transaction logs are not truncated.
The user which is used is in Demain Admins, and Org Admins Group.
Do i need an additional Agent, or am i doing something wrong ?

Hi,
i'm having the exact same problem as Patrick. I'm using agentless backup with the "Enable VSS Full backup option" enabled as well. But the logs are not truncated. To save my exchange server from chrashing because of a full disc i installed an agent on it. But would be nice if i wouldn't need it.

Thomas

Hello Thomas,
This option currently works for disk-level backup (which is agent based). We are working on adding support for agent-less application aware backup into Acronis Backup Advanced.
Just in case this is critical, Acronis Backup for VMware already has this feature (http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AVMP9/#18993.html)

OK, this is the explanation, so Exchange VSS backup doesn't work agentless.
We solved it in the meantime using a DiskAgent on the Virtual-machine and a new Backup Plan.
From my point of view the documentaion is wrong, and schould be corrected. see
Enable VSS Full backup option " according https://kb.acronis.com/content/41521 the transaction logs are not truncated.

Hi Igor,
thx for the information. But i agree with Patrick that the documentation is somewhat missleading in this topic and should be changed to avoid confusion until this feature is working properly.
