Can you install Advacned backup for Hyper-V on host with Server core installation only?

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have searched throughout this forum for the answer to my question before posting.

I will be installing 2 VM's in one 2012 R2 Host. One VM will be DC/Print and the other will be Exchange. My question is, can I install the Hyper-V agent on the host if I choose to perform server core installation option vs. full GUI on host?

Also, to take advantage of GRT on the virtual exchange server, do I have to install the exchange agent on that VM?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Sean,

Yes, installation of Acronis Backup Advanced Hyper-V agent on server core is supported. The easiest way to install this agent is to run Remote Installation wizard from Acronis Backup management console. In order to perform Exchange granular level recovery you will need to install Exchange agent inside the VM.

Thank you.

Hello chaimaa,

welcome to Acronis forums!

If you plan to install Acronis Backup 12.5 on Windows Core Server, then please follow this KB article on how to perform this installation https://kb.acronis.com/content/59780

You will need to use Acronis Command-Line utility in order to operate the software on core server.
