Cannot connect to Agent on Windows 2000 box

Thread needs solution

Hi

I am having difficulty connecting to the Agent on Windows 2000.

I basically get authentication errors, even though the user name and password are correct and have administrative rights.

The box is a Windows 2000 SP3 machine and is not connected to a Domain.

I have read that only Windows 2000 SP4 is compatible, i am however not able to update the SP due to the software that is installed.

Has anyone experienced this and got a solution?

Regards

Can you connect to it directly ('manage a remote machine' button of the console), not through management server?
Is 'file and printer sharing' enabled in properties of network connection ( as in http://compnetworking.about.com/od/windowsfilesharing/ht/enable_disable… ) ?
ps - you had a support case with the same problem and it was resolved - does the same solution work?

Hi Fador

The case that was open we did a host of things, now of which worked. The one thing that I did differently was to set the Acronis Remote Agent Service to logon as an administrator, the same logon as the Acronis Managed Machine Service.

After I did this the Console would connect to the remote PC.

I tried this with the machine I am referencing above, but it made no difference.

The only difference between the two machines is that the problem one is running Windows 2000 SP3 while the other is running Windows 2000 SP4.

I take it i must check the 'file and printer sharing' on the problem box.

BTW, the machine giving issues is a SCADA PC. It has automatic logon which boots to a normal User.
