Cannot Get 11.7.50088 To Work From USB Flash Drive

Thread needs solution

In the past I have used YUMI to put a Windows PE 3.0 (from Windows 7 Pro 64bit) version of Acronis Backup 11.7 onto USB Flash drive.

With the latest version of 11.7.50088 and the latest version of YUMI 2.0.5.3 I end up in an infinite loop.

When I click on the Acronis .iso name I just get kicked back up to the top of the multiboot menu.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Apparently, my ISO filename was too complex or too long.  Below please find the benefit of my experiences creating the USB Flash Drive with Acronis Backup 11.7.50088 on Windows PE 3.0 (Windows 7 Pro 64bit).  I hope this will help the next person finding themself very frustrated trying to do this...

1. Backup PC with either the program installed or with a Linux Bootable Disc just as a precaution.

2. Update your OS so as to have all latest versions of the OS files.

3. Update your MotherBoard .inf driver, Video driver, Network driver, Storage Controller driver, USB driver to have all of the latest versions.

4. Download and install WAIK or WADK for your OS.

5. Install the latest version of the Acronis program.

6. Create Backup Recovery Media - WinPE version, direct the output to hard drive or a DVD. Use a simple filename for the ISO file.

7. Download and use YUMI or Easy2Boot to install the ISO file onto a USB Flash Drive (32GB or smaller - formatted FAT32 for YUMI or NTFS for Easy2Boot).

For Easy2Boot change .iso extension to .isope or isope01

For YUMI select Single Windows PE, Multiboot Windows PE, or Single Windows Installer.

In both cases the high resolution video driver in the .iso will not load and you will just get a low resolution screen image.

To fix this before you try to use USB Flash Drive, view/execute unattend.xml in the root directory of the USB Flash drive by double clicking on it. It will open up into Internet Explorer. Then exit IE. This will allow high res display to appear when Acronis starts when you are using the USB Flash drive.  I do not know why.

Hello,

We haven't tested YUMI ourselves, so thank you so much for going through the troubleshooting necessary to find this and then posting the solution. We really appreciate it!

Dear Igor,

You're welcome.

There is a chance that Easy2Boot when using format NTFS can boot and run the Acronis Backup program with a USB Flash drive larger than 32GB, but I did not get a chance to test that.

I mention this because it is getting harder to find 32GB USB Flash drives that have a reasonably fast write speed. The 32 GB drives are coming to be regarded as "cheap" sizes and nowadays contain slow write circuitry.

If someone can confirm that Easy2Boot using format NTFS will boot and run Acronis Backup on 64GB or larger USB Flash drives, please post a reply to this thread.
