CDP option....

Thread needs solution

Hi Jeremy,
Nice to hear you.

As you know, the current implementation of SQL backup is a single-pass backup (when you create an image of a machine/volumes) and then have granular restore of databases from the image.

So, your question may be rephrased - "when will we get a CDP option for disks?". I regret to tell you that we don't plan that in plans yet.

I would like to add to this - near-CDP for Exchange is different from CDP for SQL
While for Exchange asynchronous log replication is usually good enough (because if several emails are still lost due to a loss of transaction log before it backed up, its rarely super-critical), SQL may have business transactions, and CDP means "no single transaction can be lost"

So different protection scheme is required to achieve this.
We are currently working on designing such scheme for the Acronis solution; once done it will be published in the Knowledge Base

Great to here...

Please post back here when the "No Single transaction can be lost" scheme is available.
